This is a great podcast about how RJ Testerman and people like him operate. It is shocking, but also affirming, to hear how it happened. Of course it hurts to know that It wasn’t ever about love, but it also frees me of any doubt or feeling of being alone. Start with Part 2 if you know him and his followers personally. There are also some good tips for family who have lost someone to RJ.
In Part 1 of a 2 Part interview, Rachel speaks with her colleague, New York based author, social worker, psychoanalyst, and cult survivor Dan Shaw. After leaving the Siddha Yoga cult in the 90s, Dan received his Masters and rededicated his life to helping those who had been traumatized and subjugated by narcissist partners, cult leaders included. He tours, lectures, and speaks at conferences around the world and you can check out his website.
This part 2 made me gasp a few times it is so accurate. You don’t have to listen in order to get the benefit. In fact since RJ is not an Eastern guru you will see him more clearly on this one.
In Part 2 of Rachel’s conversation with Dan Shaw, Dan moves on from his harrowing personal story to explaining his process and methodology for helping victims of narcissists and controllers, and how it has changed and evolved over the years. He also talks about how hard it was to leave the Ashram after 13 years.
The two dive into how people can get attached to their abusers, do everything in their power to avoid leaving them, and how narcissists refuse to be held accountable for anything. Ever.
